CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR ARTISTS AND CURATORS

Regular programming CIRCA art actuel 2020-2021

Deadline: December 16th 2019 at 11:59pm

CIRCA art actuel is an artist-run center that supports the development of sculptural and installation practices, in a spirit of openness and renewal.

Mission of the Center

CIRCA Art Actuel is an artist-run center that supports experimentation and innovation. His mission? Disseminate the works of artists in contemporary art, all generations combined, who place the sculptural object at the heart of their approach. The Center supports projects that are as much in the spirit of a traditional practice of sculpture as those that develop hybrid sculptural and installation forms, arising from contact with other mediums such as drawing, print, photography, digital or painting. All this testifies to a strong will to participate in the support and development of sculptural and installation practices, in a spirit of openness and renewal.

Les critères de représentativité extraient de la politique de programmation

Exhibitions of CIRCA art actuel are chosen by a committee composed of artists, board members and the director.

The projects are selected based on their relation to the overall programming to ensure a variety of selected projects, gender and cultural diversity, the representation of different generations and an equal number of male and female artists. We value cultural diversity and encourage artists and commissioners from immigrant, visible minority or Aboriginal backgrounds to submit a project.

These selection criterias are:

– The conceptual and formal relevance of the project in relation to sculptural and installation forms

– The uniqueness of the artistic proposal in relation to other current artistic practices

– To present a variety of project inside our programming

Fees

Each artist receives a fee of $2036 for a solo exhibition.
