Through Wandering Still
- Erika DUECK
Erika Dueck produces miniature interior constructions that explore how we perceive and interpret reality. In these miniatures, the interior spaces become mixed up, sometimes piercing through the physical structures around them. They become passageways that extend to distant places or circulate in endless loops. The artist often proposes isolated worlds removed from their environment and existing regardless of the physical structures surrounding them. Thus Dueck’s project lies within the spirit of the novel Brave New World: it offers a reality detached from the natural world, from human history and from intimacy with others. The two worlds then are structures without foundation that exist outside of reality.
